With a love of adventure and the outdoors, Kelly wanted to share these experiences with others. Treks are designed to empower you, provide a little bit of a challenge, and/or experience something completely new and out of your comfort zone. Being in nature releases your mind and it’s also a great opportunity to enjoy some relaxation and yoga at the end of each day, meet other people and really feel that you have left the rat-race and technology behind (even if it may just be a short break).
Our trips range from adventurous trips in Tassie, NZ and Japan, and for those who have always wanted to try Hiking but never found the right group/time or moment in their life. Now is your time, with some of these trips designed for those middle aged with little to no experience.
Hiking has plenty of perks: nice views, fresh air, and the sounds and smells of nature. Research has also shown, it is actually good for us too. Not only a great cardio workout but benefits include:
- Lowers your risk of heart disease
- Improves your blood pressure and blood sugar levels
- Boosts bone density, since walking is a weight bearing exercise
- Builds strength in your glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, and the muscles in your hips and lower legs
- Strengthens your core
- Improves balance and confidence
- Helps control your weight
- Boosts your mood.
- Research shows that hiking has a positive impact on combating the symptoms of stress and anxiety

Staying at an exclusive camp, you will feel miles away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. Sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine, or looking across the deeply forested valley, it’s impossible not to be captivated by the Tarkine’s magnificent story. Below you the myrtles, ferns and burrowing crayfish go on as they always have. Everywhere you look there is life, but life seems very far away. Join us at Tiger Ridge for some remote rainforest rejuvenation and a four-day experience in a world somehow parallel to our own.
The emphasis for this journey is on enjoying the wilderness in comfort. We spend the days exploring some of the Tarkine’s nearby landmarks including the surrounds of the magnificent rainforest, the untouched Huskisson River and a unique waterfall at the gateway to the Tarkine. These day walks are completed at a leisurely pace to suit the fitness of the group, carrying only your own lightweight day pack. Enjoy our warm water Japanese-style washroom upon your return to Tiger Ridge at the end of each day. It’s like camping, but with little luxuries. And food? Our dining table, set among the ferns, transport nightly into a platter of fresh local foods and outstanding Tasmanian wines and spirits. Accompanied by some Tarkine yarns from your guides, it is the perfect way to end a day walking amongst the ancients.
Our local hosts will also afford us some time to connect with the environment through our yoga and meditation practice. Allowing us to really lose our minds and find our souls.
With a limit of just 10 places, you are guaranteed to find some peace and quiet and time to truly reflect on life, and escape the hustle and bustle of modern life.
