Yoga for PTSD
Yoga has had proven results in helping those suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety, depression and stress related illnesses. Our nervous system has two responses sympathetic (fight and flight) and parasympathetic, where we want to sit back and relax.
Unfortuntely when the sympathic responses have been switched on for long periods of time they are hard to switch off producing too much cortisols and keeping us in a stressed state. Yoga naturally stimulates the relaxed part of your nervous system and stops your body from activating and producing cortisols.
